Salary / Paycheck Calculator
Hourly wage or annual salary — either way, see exactly what lands per paycheck. Enter your pay details and pick your pay frequency.
How it works
- Choose hourly or salary.
- Enter your rate and weekly hours — or your annual salary.
- Pick how often you're paid to see your gross per paycheck and per year.
All figures are GROSS — before federal/state taxes, Social Security, Medicare, insurance and 401(k). Take-home pay varies a lot by state and deductions.
Worked example
$25/hour × 40 hours/week, paid biweekly: $25 × 40 × 52 = $52,000/year → $52,000 ÷ 26 = $2,000 per paycheck (gross, before taxes).
The math behind it
Hourly → annual: rate × hours/week × 52. Per paycheck: annual ÷ pay periods per year (52 weekly, 26 biweekly, 24 semimonthly, 12 monthly). Simple multiplication — the only trick is remembering it's all pre-tax.
Common mistakes
- Confusing gross pay with take-home when budgeting.
- Annualizing hourly pay without subtracting unpaid time off.
- Forgetting overtime, bonuses and commissions in the picture.
- Not double-checking the first paycheck for errors — they happen.

Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between gross and net pay?
Gross is pay before any deductions; net (take-home) is what hits your bank account after taxes, FICA, insurance and retirement contributions.
Biweekly vs semimonthly — how many paychecks?
Biweekly (every 2 weeks) = 26 paychecks a year, with two 3-paycheck months. Semimonthly (twice a month) = 24 even paychecks.
Does this include taxes?
No — federal and state income tax plus Social Security/Medicare vary by location and filing status, so this shows gross only.
How do I annualize part-time hourly work?
Hourly rate × hours per week × 52. For irregular hours, use your average week.
My hours vary — what should I enter?
Use your typical or average weekly hours. For a range, run it twice (low week / high week) to see the spread.
